Avicii has been honoured at a memorial service in Stockholm, seven months after the Swedish DJ’s tragic death.
The EDM star, real name Tim Bergling, was found dead in Muscat, Oman in April this year at the age of 28. It was later confirmed that he had taken his own life.
Hundreds of fans gathered at the Hedvig Eleonora Church in Stockholm yesterday as Bergling’s family paid tribute to him at a memorial service.
There was equally large crowds outside the venue too, as fans paved the streets to pay their respects.
During the service, his father Klas Bergling delivered an emotional tribute to his son and hailed his musical career while photos of the DJ rested on the altar.
The service also saw Avicii’s music being played throughout, before proceedings came to an end with a choral performance of ‘Wake Me Up’, his 2013 mega-hit with Aloe Blacc.
Speaking to E!, a source described the service as “very moving” and a “great tribute to Avicii”.
The star was laid to rest at a private ceremony in June, only months after it was confirmed that he took his own life.
