Filmmaker and musician John Carpenter has confirmed that he will return to score the next Halloween sequel.
The horror icon directed and scored Halloween (1978) and returned to rework his original tense theme for the new Halloween film this year, having avoided many of the sequels to the 1978 classic.
Talking to Consequence of Sound, Carpenter said: “We’ll be ready. We’ve all talked about it. We’ll be ready.”
His band with son Cody Carpenter and godson Daniel Davies are currently on a break after working on Halloween.
Yet the horror auteur did confirm that they will return to working on their third standalone album ‘Lost Themes III’.
“The group is not intensely working on anything,” he said, “but we’ll get back together and do some more stuff. We need to rest now after Halloween and keep out of sight. We don’t need to bug anybody now.”

In October, Carpenter embarked on a UK tour in support of the release of the soundtrack and unveiled a chilling, instrumental ‘Shudder’ just in time for Halloween.
Talking to the NME, he explained that his original soundtrack was the result of low-budget filmmaking.
“I come from student filmmaking, so we never had any money to hire a composer – we had to do it ourselves,” he said. “So I was able to do it, and I did score some of my classmates’ student films and it was fun to do so I took that into the low budget filmmaking I was doing. It was necessity!”
