Keith Richards has hinted that The Rolling Stones might be about to embark on their farewell tour, saying “maybe this will be the last one”.
The Stones recently announced details on their ‘No Filter’ tour dates for 2019. The stadium tour will mark 57 years of the band.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, Richards spoke about the upcoming tour. “Maybe this will be the last one, I don’t know.”
However, the guitar legend went on to describe his approach to live performances: “Give me 50,000 people and I feel right at home. The whole band does. As Ronnie and I often say before we go on, ‘Let’s get onstage and get some peace and quiet’.”
Keef also revealed that the band have been working on new music. “Mick [Jagger] and I got together for a few days a month or so ago in the studio, just playing around. Apart from that, there might be a session sometime in December, but I’m not crossing my fingers on that.”

“It was great, man,” he continued. “We knocked out a few songs together with [producer] Don Was. We’re just working things through. We had a great time — got some nice stuff out of it.”
Asked how he would describe their new sound, he replied: “It’s guitars, drums and bass”.
In an interview earlier this year, Mick Jagger confirmed he was writing new material. He said: “I’m just writing. It is mostly for the Stones at the moment.”
The iconic frontman also recently teased “new tunes”, posting a video of him playing harmonica online.
The legendary band last released a record in 2016 with their covers album ‘Blue & Lonesome‘. Although the band have released several live albums and box sets and one compilation in the past decade, it has been 13 years since they last released a record of new, original music.
