Ian Brown has shared his take on the reggae classic ‘Black Roses’.
The new offering is taken from his upcoming album ‘Ripples’, and sees the Stones Roses frontman offering a fresh take on the Barrington Levy song. Check it out in full below.
It comes ahead of ‘Ripples’ arriving on February 1, 2019, his first new album in nine years. In November, he unveiled the video to ‘First World Problems’ which harks to the video for his 2001 single ‘F.E.A.R.’ as Brown rides his bike backwards.
Providing their verdict on Brown’s cover, one fan said: “pretty decent tune, Love the way he goes about things , no big fanfare , just a quiet here it is…
Another argued: “Ian brown covering Barrington levy’s black roses and I love it. But you’ll never beat the reggae version imo.”

In 2017, it was reported that Brown had begun work on the album after The Stone Roses reunion came to an abrupt end.
Fans had initially hoped that the band would release their own comeback record after they released the singles ‘All For One’ and ‘Beautiful Thing‘ in 2016. The last Stone Roses album to be released was 1994’s ‘Second Coming’.
However, it still hasn’t stopped bookies from chancing their odds of headlining Glastonbury next year
