Jason Momoa says Henry Cavill isn’t leaving the ‘Superman’ franchise

The 'Aquaman' actor says Cavill "loves the character"

Aquaman star Jason Momoa has spoken out against reports which claim that Henry Cavill is set to leave the Superman franchise.

Speculation that Cavill is to hang up his cape as the titular superhero emerged back in September when it was reported that talks between the actor and Warner Bros. about his continued involvement in the franchise had broken down.

While an official decision on Cavill’s future as Superman has still yet to be announced, Aquaman star Momoa has now backed Cavill in the role, claiming that his friend and Justice League co-star “loves the character”.

“He’s absolutely not,” Momoa said when asked by Entertainment Tonight about whether Cavill was considering quitting the role. “He loves the character and he’s not, 100%. No, it’s absolutely not [going to happen].”

Warner Bros’ position was last explained in a statement issued back in September: “While no decisions have been made regarding any upcoming Superman films, we’ve always had great respect for and a great relationship with Henry Cavill, and that remains unchanged.”

No future Superman films have been announced by the studio as of yet.
