Watch the gory new trailer for Neil Marshall’s ‘Hellboy’ reboot

"Why do you fight for those who hate and fear you?"

A dramatic, gory new trailer for the upcoming reboot of Hellboy has been revealed.

Due for release on April 12, 2019, the modern reboot follows the initial launch of the comic book series with 2004’s Hellboy movie, which was followed by Hellboy II: The Golden Army in 2008.

Ron Perlman played the titular character in the initial movies from the franchise. The reboot will star David Harbour, Ian McShane and Milla Jovovich and is directed by Neil Marshall.

This is the second trailer to be released for the eagerly-anticipated film, the first being shared last December.

Two official images from the project were also released last year, the first delighting fans when it was revealed last October. A second came last December when a second ‘motion picture’ was also published.

Earlier this year, Selma Blair admitted that she was ‘heartbroken’ about plans to move ahead with a Hellboy reboot rather than a sequel to the movies she was in.

The upcoming Hellboy has been controversial beyond the decision to make it a reboot, with British actor Ed Skrein originally cast as Major Ben Daimio, prompting a backlash for ‘whitewashing’ a character who was Japanese-American in the comics.

Skrein later withdrew from the role, saying that “representation of ethnic diversity is important.”
