Drake performed at a tiny Leicester club last night

The rapper followed his 'Assassination Vacation' show with an after party at Club Republic.

Drake fans were treated to an intimate performance in Leicester last night (March 28) following a Birmingham date of the rapper’s Assassination Vacation stadium tour.

Having previously cancelled an event in Leicester back in 2017, Drake confirmed the news that he would be performing at Club Republic on Gravel Street earlier in the day by posting the flyer on his Instagram Story.

Going from performing to 16,000 people at Birmingham’s Resorts World Arena to 2,000 at Club Republic, Drake took to the stage at around 1:20am and ran through a selection of hits, including ‘Sicko Mode’, ‘Nonstop’ and ‘God’s Plan’. Capital Xtra’s DJ Semtex was also on the bill.

“It was just packed in there, it was great – the atmosphere was amazing. It’s something that’s going to be heard about here for a long time,” the event’s organiser Sukh Singh told LeicestershireLive.

“Leicester is my home town so I had to represent. It’s always been a dream of mine bringing the biggest artists on the planet to Leicester.”

While tickets were listed online at £35, one club-goer tweeted: “Only £20 to see Drake up this close in Leicester, mcddddd.” Another wrote: “Drake in Leicester reminds me of when Ronaldinho was in Peckham, both make no sense.”

In other Drake news, the rapper made a surprise appearance at south London rapper’s Loski’s show at the O2 Forum in the capital last earlier this week.

Previously admitting that the south London rapper helped inspire his own recent album ‘Scorpion’, Drizzy was spotted rapping along to ‘Money & Beef’ with the crowd on the balcony of the venue.
