Listen to two new songs from Vampire Weekend

Introducing 'This Life' and 'Unbearably White'

Vampire Weekend have continued to preview ‘Father of The Bride’ by releasing two more tracks from their fourth record.

After previously debuting the likes of ‘Harmony Hall‘, ‘2021‘, ‘Sunflower’ and ‘Baby Blue’, the New York band have now unveiled ‘This Life’ and ‘Unbearably White’.

They’re the final tracks to be shared by the band ahead of the album’s arrival, and both are markedly different. ‘This Life’ sees Ezra Koenig including lyrics from ‘Tonight’ – an early effort from iLoveMakonnen.

You’ve been cheatin’ on, cheatin’ on me/I’ve been cheatin’ on, cheatin’ on you,” sings Koenig on the track – which also boasts the backing vocals of Danielle Haim.

In contrast, ‘Unbearably White’ is a slower effort and perhaps one of the most contemplative efforts from the upcoming record. You can listen to them both below.

Last month, Vampire Weekend played a handful of shows in London earlier this month. At their Islington Assembly Hall gig on March 23 the band performed ‘A-Punk’ three times in a row.

After the first performance of the song, Koenig said: “Hmmmm that song is too short.” After the second, he added: “These shows are essentially attended rehearsals, we’ve got a lot of shows to play this year. I’m sorry, but…” before playing the song again.

Reviewing the first of their three return gigs in London, NME wrote: “The heavy lean towards the fan friendly moments act as a celebration of their greatness and reminder of the sheer joy they can deliver, but the new material suggests they may only now be approaching the peak of their powers. Beg, steal or borrow to see Vampire Weekend in 2019.”
