The Prodigy have paid tribute to their minder Con, after informing fans that their long-term colleague has died just weeks after their frontman Keith Flint.

The band posted a number of images of Con (real name Cornelius Murphy) on their Instagram, along with a tribute which describes him as ‘Superman’.

“R.I.P Con, you always had our backs and looked after us for years,” they said. “You got us out of many sticky situations on tour, you were a truly great man, in fact you were actually Superman – the people that knew you will understand what I’m sayin…

“Above all you were the greatest loyal friend to us all man … We will truly miss you and never forget you brother x

Confirming the news to NME, Con’s daughter Charlee said that her father “passed away peacefully at the incredible Thames Hospice in Windsor, following a long battle with cancer (myeloma) which he fought so bravely.” Both his wife, Jayne, and Charlee, were by his side as he passed away.

Charlee said of her father: “In the early hours of this morning, my dad took his final breaths, peacefully bringing to an end his long fight with cancer – a battle he fought with the bravest determination and the utmost stoicism. Up until, and including, his final moments, he was surrounded by the incredible friends and family that he was so proud to say he knew and loved. I’ll miss him so so much. Our beloved husband, dad, son, brother, friend and warrior.”

Con, his family and members of The Prodigy regularly promoted the work of Myeloma UK, the charity fighting the blood cancer that he was diagnosed with 10 years ago.

It’s the second loss the band have suffered this year, after the death of their frontman Keith Flint last month.

Thousands of fans lined the streets of Essex to celebrate and pay tribute to Flint, who died at his Essex home. An inquest later stating that he had taken his own life. He was 49.
