Cardi B says she wants to release her next album this year

"It’s big pressure on me, It’s like aw snap, what the hell am I going to come up with?"

Cardi B has said that she intends to release the follow up to last year’s multi-platinum selling ‘Invasion Of Privacy’ this year, and dropped a hint about who could feature on it.

The rapper spoke to Variety while on the red carpet at the 2019 Spark Party in West Hollywood, where she said although she wasn’t sure when exactly she’d be releasing new music, she’s hoping it’ll be before 2020.

“I’m starting to prepare myself now because I’m really trying to put out an album for this year,” she said.

The rapper also discusses the pressure she feels to follow up the colossal success of her debut album last year. “My last album, ‘Invasion of Privacy’, it just went three times platinum, so now it’s just like, ”aw snap. It’s big pressure on me,” she said. “It’s like ‘aw snap, what the hell am I going to come up with?'”

Though she was tight-lipped about who will be featuring on the record, Cardi did hint that she might be working with some relative unknowns.

“There’s two boys that I met with, well two guys, two men, they’re not big artists. They’re actually…they aren’t really well-known, but they’re amazing artists and I really want to put them on my album.

“Y’all will find out in October who they are,” she said. “I’m not saying that my album is out in October, but you will see why.”

The news comes shortly after the rapper was forced to pull out of this year’s Primavera Festival on May 31, due to conflicting promotional duties in the US. She will be replaced by Miley Cyrus.

Earlier this year Cardi was embroiled in controversy. Last month she moved to clarify her comments following backlash over claims she used to “drug and rob men” who tried to pay her for sex.
